Rituals, ceremony & COmmunal prayer
Rituals have built the architecture of the future one fire and one shared song at a time through the millenia. Taking the time to slow down to celebrate, morn, and create space for the experiences that shape reality and inform what’s to come - plants intentionality and authorship into living.
Our ancestors forged “the way” with ritual but these practices had to go underground and were lost in many of our lineages leaving us unmoored. In my lineage, the ritual art of keening was central to the health of the community but was squashed and all but destroyed by the Catholic Church who found the practice threatening to patriarchal control and domination. As I walk these devastatingly beautiful times and hospice the old way as we forge a new one, I am reminded that it is the gathering, the slowing, the dancing, the holding, together in ritual that gives meaning to this one precious life. Ritual offers us the foundation and the scaffolding that house community solidarity as we walk into the great turning together. It anchors us through the unraveling, as Joanna Macy calls it. The path forward, as I see it, is community ritual, mutual aid and solidarity.
I offer personal and group rituals for grief (keening), rage, land blessings and the myriad transitions that punctuate life. I can come to you (if you are local) or you can come to me to be held by the sweet pollinator sanctuary I call home. Reach out to schedule a call for your ritual in waiting.
deepening relationship in uncertain times
This ritual is for pairs in intimate relationship. Your dyad will be invited into a sacred container of non-judgement, compassion and listening.
We will drop beneath linear time as we move into the relational. You will be guided to create an altar between you and exchange your needs as gifts. There will be guided breath and touch practices as we deepen connection as the anchor through these uncertain times.
Meet your guides: Travis Wanner and Alicia Barmon have been partnered for 17 years. They share the life changing project of unchooling their 16 year old son (and themselves). They have built a life and partnership grounded in nonviolent communication, community and healing. They live just outside of Fredrick, MD on their Pollinator Sanctuary.
Alicia is a mother and a healing facilitator. She combines a psychodynamic orientation with Somatic Experiencing, breathwork, touchwork, parts work, yoga, Buddhism and liberation philosophy to support the renegotiation of early experiences, offer prediction errors and release looping material through body waves, re-association and visceral compassion. She is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and is trained in Psychedelic Somatic work that she offers in sanghas (small group containers). She guides a daily breathwork practice on zoom and leads her life as ceremony.
Travis is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and trained in Psychedelic Somatic work. He is currently training in early childhood trauma work and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, both known for their gentle, somatic approach to healing early developmental trauma. Travis’ work emphasizes creating safe, co-regulated spaces that support connection, repair, and the embodied resolution of old patterns.
